NatMags Marketing Cleverly

Monday, October 5th, 2009

picture-2

We were pleased to see one of our great partners, NatMags featured in NMA this week looking at the launch of their recent sites.

“Cosmopolitan’s The One and Men’s Health’s Dating Lounge will be separately branded but will exploit the crossover in reader demographics to match users from each site.”

The sites have been cleverly targeted for each of their audiences ensuring that the branding is consistent with the sites and the platform integrates seamlessly with their navigation. Through linking to each of the sites, they’re hoping to get plenty of males and females signing up, all of which should be around the same age group and with similar interests.

Justine Southall, Publishing Director for Cosmopolitan magazine said:

“The most popular and important sections are the sex and relationship areas, representing an opportunity for synergy,” said Southall. “We already share content with Men’s Health and this is a good example of making it into something tangible.”

This just backs up the figures that we here at WhiteLabelDating.com are witnessing… dating is going from strength to strength. With the documented difficulty that publishers are facing in the current economy, it’s no wonder that NatMags could see the potential of an additional revenue stream by monetising it’s readers. Initial numbers have been encouraging and we look forward to seeing the growth of these sites.

TheSeniorDatingAgency.co.uk Reaches 1yr Anniversary

Friday, September 18th, 2009

picture-1

We’re pleased to celebrate TheSeniorDatingAgency.co.uk reaching their first anniversary. David Cliff, the rather clever chap behind the site has been running his own platform of dating sites since September 2005. By August 2008 he had launched over 10 sites on the platform, catering for several niches - not bad for a self-confessed cyberphobe.

As a gentleman in his 50s, David was well positioned to know what the more mature market were looking for from an online dating proposition. This is quite unique as many of the dating sites are run by younger folks who are less accustomed to what their target audience want and can relate to.

Growth on the site has exceeded all expectations with revenue increasing by 3494% between January and August 2009 with a 4567% increase in paying members! Not bad I think you’ll agree?

We’ve been delighted to see such growth in David’s site and our mature network as a whole as the older generation look to online to provide them with their dating solutions. We hope to see continued growth for many years to come.

Supporting the Troops in Afghanistan

Friday, September 11th, 2009

Here at WhiteLabelDating.com, we’re great supporters of the British troops in Afghanistan. We have a number of sites on the platform that are dedicated for service people looking for friendship and relationships, including the established site ForcesDating.com which is one of the most popular.

It was great therefore, when we had the opportunity to make a generous donation to the Coldstream Guards who are currently based out there. It caused quite a stir to have them turn up in the office in uniform and was appreciated by many of the female members of the team! ;)

We were glad to be able to donate to a really worthy cause that everybody can relate to and wish them well for the future.

Niche Sites Lead to Healthy Profits

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

picture-1Here at WhiteLabelDating.com, we’re recognised as experts in our field - there’s no better provider that allows you to launch your own dating site in multiple countries appealing to unlimited niches. We know from experience that conversion rates are higher on niche sites as members are more likely to find someone to catch their attention that they wish to contact.

It’s no wonder then, that niche sites continue to grow on the platform, catering for all different tastes. This was covered a while ago on the Telegraph website which listed the 20 best niche dating sites. We were delighted to have 2 of our partners’ sites within the top 2o, LoveHorse.co.uk and RugbyLover.co.uk. A clear sign that niche dating works and what better home to help you launch your niche site than WhiteLabelDating.com?

Men’s Health Dating Lounge

Friday, August 7th, 2009

It wasn’t long ago that we were able to announce the launch of our partnership with NatMag with Cosmo Dating. It gives us much delight to announce that they are expanding their portfolio with the launch of Men’s Health Dating Lounge - a dating site targeted at their readers of Men’s Health Magazine.

The site, aimed at males aged 18-40 is promoted on their website and is due to receive further advertising in their magazine. This new addition now means that they have offerings for both males and females - who knows with all of those hotties joining from Cosmo, maybe they’ll bag themselves a handsome hunk from Mens Health…?

We’re excited to add this to an extensive list of publications for which we now run dating sites… proving that more people are realising the potential revenue income at a time when advertising spend is reducing. We look forward to seeing the results.

Your Online Dating Site Will Fail!

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

The web continues to delight and surprise me on a daily basis, whether that’s new technologies, startups or simply ‘that’ person adding you as a friend on Facebook that used to be so attractive… anyway, where was I?

It’s not often that I stumble across a blog article that leaves me speechless… which was exactly what happened when Mike Butcher’s tweet lead me to this article entitled ‘Startups: Your Online Business Will Fail’ on the site Startup Professional Musings.

It strikes me that the article has been written by a chap (Marty Zwilling) that has no actual experience of the dating industry, or that he’s simply looking for reaction and link baiting. The post states that online dating sites will fail because “everyone expect quick results, nobody can make that happen, and users get very unhappy very quickly”. He goes on to add that dating businesses are tough for the following reasons:

  • Direct competition is huge
  • No longer a growth market
  • Entry cost is very high
  • Intellectual property is tough
  • Social networks and search engines will lead the way

I would like to introduce Marty to the concept of white label dating sites and maybe address some of the points that he raises. You might want to grab a cup of tea and a comfy sofa. *position self on soapbox*

THE DEFENCE

Whilst I can understand some of the points raised, these are only valid when you’re talking about building a site from scratch. By launching a dating site with a white label provider, partners are provided with a database of active members, so that their site is never empty. Offering our partners a ready-made database of over 2 million members means that any new members driven to the site will be greeted by a buzz of activity and a greater chance of meeting “the one”, which is why on average our members stay 5 months.

With the spotlight turning on successes within the dating industry, more people are becoming aware of the opportunities that could exist by launching their own sites. However, there’s a huge market out there still up for grabs -it’s simply a case of distinguishing yourself from the competition and spotting your niche! Considering new markets, such as the South African network which is currently booming could be a sure fire way to set yourself apart from your competitors. Research is everything!

A DECLINING MARKET?

To say that the dating industry is no longer a growth market is just ludicrous. The UK dating industry is worth £600m a year according to HitWise, whilst Juniper Research predicts the number of paying members on dating sites will rise to 6m in the next 3 years, from 2.6m in 2006 - hardly a slowing market. As the economy goes into meltdown, I would suggest that online dating appears, infact, to be one of the few industries to be flourishing. Since September 2008, we at WhiteLabelDating.com have seen revenues and traffic to our partners increase by over 250%. That stat speaks for itself.

As there are no set up fees for starting a site with us, partners can in principle launch with no associated costs. We work on a revenue share basis, meaning that it’s in our best interests for their site(s) to be as profitable as it/they can. The partner just needs to bring their brand and spread the word. Whilst PPC (pay-per-click) is a traditional (and admittedly sometimes costly) method of driving traffic - we provide partners with much help and advice to encourage them to use other methods which are free to implement such as SEO and social media.

I strongly disagree that users are looking purely for free dating sites. Whilst free dating sites definitely have their place and can be a great tool for cross-promoting paid sites, most of the people using these sites aren’t serious about finding their match. From our experience, people are prepared to pay for a service in the knowledge that fellow members are also more serious and committed to dating. Then of course, there are casual sites, where members are traditionally happy to pay for the service, viewing it as a form of entertainment.

Yes, intellectual property can be tough. However, with a 3rd party provider, the partner doesn’t have to worry about the development of search criteria as that’s all taken care of for them. Plus, the provider will have the funds to continually update the platform, introducing new features to retain members, keeping them interested and engaged. What happened to nosing through profiles anyway?

Social networks certainly offer the potential of tapping into a vast market that may feel that dating sites are still seen as socially unacceptable. However, I would be surprised to see social networks launching dating functionality of their own at this stage. Latest developments have seen these networks open up their platforms, allowing developers to build using their APIs. Therefore the potential here is for smart dating sites to start building dating applications to take advantage of these platforms.

IN SUMMARY

I guess the difference with our partners and the audience of ‘Startup Professional Musings’ is that they’re looking to generate healthy monthly revenue income, allowing them a sustainable improved standard of living as opposed to angel investment… Put another way, for our partners, it’s a lifestyle change as opposed to an exit method.

In short, I don’t think that I could disagree with an article more - but then I wouldn’t be working for a dating company if I agreed, would I? There’s a whole team of people who come here to work every day because we love the company, we love the industry, we want to make our partners money and we want to help people find love. Simple.

*Steps down from soapbox and sighs*

Friendship First

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Whilst online dating is becoming more socially acceptable amongst the masses, there are still people out there that would rather seek friendship in the hope that it turns into more. It’s therefore great to see a number of our partners taking advantage of this opportunity and tailoring their offering to reflect this.

Friendsormates.com, friendsofyours.com and ukfriendsdating.co.uk are great examples of sites that approach dating in a much more subtle way - focusing on the friendship aspect, trying to match you with people who have similar interests and hobbies. Specializing in a friendship niche makes it that little bit less daunting for potential members to sign up to a site. The thought of finding a new friend is a lot less scary then searching for “the one”. Friendsormates states that “you don’t have to be looking for a romantic relationship to join”, this definitely takes off that immediate pressure and allows people to make those first initial connections.

FriendsofYours.com, is part of Yours.co.uk, which is an online community for Yours Magazine readers, traditionally for the over 50s. The site claims that you can be looking for love, friendship or just an online chat, there are potential friends for everyone. The site has a very warm and welcoming feel to it which adds that softer touch to the dating world.

If you’re looking to diversify your portfolio of dating sites, there’s plenty of potential with setting up a friendship site. After all, it’s a friendship that keeps sailing on forever.

Over 50’s Lifestyle Site Launches New Dating Site

Friday, June 19th, 2009

Prime50plus is fast becoming the UK’s No.1 lifestyle site offering great tips and advice specifically designed and marketed for an older generation. The site offers a unique customer experience and its aim is to help add that little something extra to someones life, Prime50plus quotes:

“We’ve designed this exciting new Website specifically for you and your generation. Baby Boomers who are approaching or over 50, who are already leading successful, fulfilling lives but are now looking for something more.”

Site users arrive onto the home page which gives a brief overview of what the site offers its members. There are seven different tabs you can choose from including Travel and Leisure, Wealth, Health, Shop Window, Career, Friendship and Dating and Property. All the pages link in with the same appealing continuous theme and each tab offers tips, useful website links and relevant products.

The site has a real friendly and welcoming feel to it, and the launch of the Prime50plus dating service adds that extra bit of spice to an already successful site. The Friendship and Dating option has a soft and playful approach, making it more appealing to sign up. There is an option to search for locals in the area so straight away the customer can get a feel as to whether or not the site is right for them.

Paul Kern, director of Prime50plus had this to say about the site and his partnership with White Label Dating:

“We are delighted to be working with White Label Dating as this exciting new dating service ideally compliments the other premium services being offered to our customers. From the research we have carried out, Social Networking and Dating are key growth areas for the 50 plus market. I would like to compliment you and your organisation in the way you have acted so quickly to create the Prime50plus Dating White Label site. From what we have seen, we are impressed with the quality of the site, the T&C and the way it is set out. I was also very impressed by the friendly feel and usability of the customer pages once someone has completed a free sign in. I can see why people who sign in for free then go on to purchase a service. We look forward to promoting Prime50plus Dating.”

Feedback like this is a really great incentive for WhiteLabelDating.com to keep working closely with our partners and helping them improve their sites as much as possible! So remember if you ever fancy adding that little bit extra to your site, our dedicated team are always willing to help.

Putting Your Members First

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

Keeping your members happy, giving them what they want, as easy and accessibly as possible -this is what it’s all about as your members are the ones that make your pocket feel that little bit heavier every month! We need to look after them and give them the best service possible. One of our partner’s sites, Dirtylikeus.com does just that. The motto on their website “our members always come first,” is used continuously throughout the sites pages and reassures members that their commitment to the site is not overlooked, (and yes the pun was intended)

Dirtylikeus.com is packed full of lots of great content and offers a great deal more then just a dating service. From the splash page, users navigate to the home page, which then has many different options for where members can head to next. Site users can get an overview of the members already on the site, ranging from the UK, America, Canada, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

The site has great social media links, including it’s own facebook page and twitter account. You can read up on their blog pages, and engage in online chats. This is a great way to get members more engaged with the site as they can relate and get more involved with these social media aspects, leaving comments and communicating with the Dirtylikeus.com team. It all helps to make the site more personal. You can even buy yourself a Dirtylikeus T-shirt!

The site has some great visual images, making their members experience fun but also user friendly.

WLD Partners feature in The Guardian Newspaper

Monday, June 15th, 2009

Online dating continues to reach new levels of awareness. One of the top UK newspapers, The Guardian has featured some of WhiteLabelDating.com’s partners in a recent article, “Finding love in later life.” The article talks about the over 50’s market and how online dating is becoming increasingly popular with the older generation. Discussing divorce rates and increasing life expectancy, the article describes how the older generation don’t want to be alone in their later years, they want to start dating and having fun with others. Going out for dinner and arranging holidays is not just for the young kids!

The articles states that “30% of men over 65 and a whopping 60% of women don’t live as part of a couple.” So this just shows that marketing to an older demographic will definitely pay off! Within the article it lists four over 50 dating sites, three of which are WhiteLabelDating.com partners! The Senior Dating Agency and Senior Dating Group are discussed as being great over 50’s sites to join for free. The article also mentions Singlesover60.co.uk and describes how the site has successfully targeted a slightly higher age bracket.
