This week Amy Loudon, Partner Account Assistant, provides some really interesting stats and thoughts on Valentine’s Day…
Let me start by saying HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY! For weeks we’ve been surrounded by heart-shaped balloons, haven’t been able to move for over-sized boxes of chocolates and have been in constant proximity to ‘I wuv you’ cards at all times. Whether you buy into it or not, there’s certainly no escaping it today. Forget the Monday morning blues, love is most definitely in the air. Saying that, love is always in the air at WhiteLabelDating.com HQ. And how can it not be when we’re connecting singles all over the world every day?
It’s a common misconception that Valentine’s Day is just for couples and that if you’re single, well you must be miserable. However, this isn’t the case. With an abundance of singles all waiting to find Mrs or Mr right, we’re in the right business for helping singles understand that they’re not in it alone.
When I asked Nick, who heads up our Business Intelligence team, to pull together some stats on the amount of member communications we are expecting this Valentine’s Day, I was truly astonished. Based on the figures from last year, and the increase we’ve seen in communications being sent per
day since then, we are expecting to send approximately 15,000,000 winks and around 22,000,000 private messages. If we include ice-breakers in the private message counts, we’re on course to send over a billion messages this year… seriously! In percent that’s an increase of…. who cares? My calculator can’t even cope with that amount of zeros and I think it’s fair to say that those numbers speak for themselves!
Along with this, we have seen a significant increase in sign-ups in the build up towards Valentine’s Day and we are expecting a huge amount of new members today alone. See, I told you Valentine’s Day wasn’t just for couples!
So my advice for the singletons out there is to celebrate the most romantic day of the year by being pro-active online. Instead of wallowing in self-pity, make this Valentine’s Day one to remember by sending a wink, initiating a conversation or better still, sending a virtual gift. Remember, the fun part
about being single on Valentine’s Day is the unknown, the unexpected and the ‘what could be’s’. Who knows, with a little help from us, cupid could be knocking on the door next year…
