June was by far our busiest month of the year so far.
Whilst Jubilee madness was sweeping across the nation, we were sweeping across inboxes all over the globe! Knowing that most people would be out celebrating at street parties with friends and family, we kicked off our Jubilee campaign with a promotion of our mobile sites, which allow members to use our service wherever and whenever. Andy, from the Comms Team made sure the email was eye-catching and after seeing an immediate increase in mobile logins, it was clear his hard work had paid off.

We followed up our mobile promotion with a Jubilee offer on the Friday, giving members an impressive discount on the normal subscription rate. The offer went out across the UK, Australian, South African and US Networks (because everyone loves the Royals, right?). Traffic to the sites almost doubled over the weekend, with people looking for ways to entertain themselves, whilst seeking shelter from the washed out celebrations. On the following Tuesday we offered our members a Free Read. Between the hours of 6pm and 8pm they had complete access to their inboxes. During this time we saw a 60% increase in members online compared to the previous Tuesday, and a 30% increase on our Valentine’s Day Free Read campaign. Overall, the Jubilee campaigns were extremely successful, with a 53% increase in open rates and an 80% revenue increase compared to our Easter campaigns.
Just as we breathed a sigh of relief that Jubilee was done and dusted, Euro 2012 was upon us! During the first round, we gave the UK Networks and Irish Networks free access to their messages during their games. During Ireland’s first game against Croatia we saw the number of members online almost double in comparison with the same time a week earlier. Unfortunately, Ireland didn’t make it past the first stage, so we treated our Irish members to a generous consolation offer, whilst the UK received a lovely congratulatory discount for finishing top of the group!
Whilst Euro 2012 was in full swing, we also had Father’s Day – didn’t we tell you it’s been a busy month?! We launched a competition across the UK and International Networks to find our ‘Dishiest Dad’. We gave our Dad’s a head-start by telling them we were about to launch the competition so that they had time to spruce up their profiles. On the day the campaign was launched, we saw an increase of 30% in winks across the UK General Network. We rewarded our dishiest UK dads with an exciting Red Letter Day experience voucher, whilst our International dads received 3 months free membership!
On top of all that, we launched our brand new Who’s Near Me feature. This feature allows members to find members in their hometown, where they work or even where they like to hang out. They can even search for members with certain interests or characteristics.
We rounded off June with an offer for our less active members. We contacted members who were outside of the Comms usual target bracket and offered them a free 3 day trial re-billing on a one month subscription. So that was June… now onto July and the Olympics!
