SEO

Function: Acquiring traffic

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is the active practice of optimising a website with the goal of achieving a higher ranking in search engines.

SEO is critical for driving traffic to your site. A large chunk of web traffic is driven by the biggest commercial search engines – Google, Bing and Yahoo. If your site can’t be found by search engines or your content can’t be indexed in their database, you could be missing out on valuable traffic and potential new members!

PPC

Function: Acquiring traffic

Pay Per Click advertising is an effective way of driving traffic to your website, in which the advertiser pays the publisher (or site owner) every time the ad is clicked.

To build a PPC campaign, you bid on certain keywords that are relevant to your campaign that you predict your target demographic will be searching. The most popular keywords are highly competitive and will be charged at a premium rate. That means it’s important to bid on relevant  keywords that will improve your search engine ranking and increase the visibility of your ads.

Blog

Function: Supporting your SEO strategy and building brand engagement

Social media channels can help you successfully reach worldwide audiences in a highly targeted way, making them a highly effective strategic marketing tool.

A blog is an excellent way to drive high quality traffic and increase the visibility of your dating site. Through your blog you will be able to share relevant content to engage your users, build a community and connect with your members, all while developing your brand personality. Each time you publish a new blog post that contains relatable and relevant content, you also increase your page rank. This is because search engines favour frequently updated and keyword rich content.

Facebook

Function: Primarily brand awareness but can also be used to traffic

Create a Facebook Page for your site and gather a following by posting relevant and shareable content. This will help you build a loyal and more importantly, engaged consumer base. You can also share blog content on Facebook with links back to your blog, this will help drive traffic to your site.

Twitter

Function: Primarily brand awareness but can also be used to traffic

In a similar way to Facebook, you can also build a fan or business account on Twitter and organically grow a follower-base by tweeting relevant content or stories. Stay on top of trends and exciting news by getting involved in Twitter conversations using hashtags. You can find out more about taking advantage of Twitter here.

You can also take part in paid advertising on Twitter with ‘Sponsored Tweets’ or ‘Twitter Ads’. These are highly targeted forms of advertising and can be particularly useful if you want to share some news or promote a campaign to a specific demographic.

Instagram

Function: Brand awareness and engagement

With more than 400 million active users worldwide, Instagram’s engaged audience makes it a powerful tool for increasing brand awareness. To drive engagement, you can post inspiring quotes, competitions and even success stories from your site with the relevant hashtags.

Use Instagram advertising to create closely targeted messages and reach potential customers based on their interests through custom targeting and tailored call to action buttons.
