January is the busiest month for online dating with more people making it their New Year’s resolution to find love!

This was the perfect opportunity to increase engagement and drive upgrades so keep reading to hear about our success rates…

New Year discounted membership offer

Between the 1st and 3rd of January, we offered a 40% discount to all basic members to encourage members to upgrade and start chatting to fellow singles! This increased upgrades by 58% during this period and a 136% increase in re-initials.

Photo and profile update prompt

On 5th January, we sent out a reminder to all members in all countries to encourage them to upload new photos, complete their ‘About Me’ section, explain their interests and answer their profile Q&A’s. There was not a visible increase on this day but activity was already ramping up during the post-Christmas rush.

Blue Monday & Martin Luther King flash sale

On 15th January, we sent out a flash sale to all basic members. The theme of the flash sale was based around ‘Blue Monday’ for all territories apart from the US which celebrated Martin Luther King day. The flash sale offered a 50% discount off memberships for that day only and contributed to a 116% increase in upgrades and a HUGE 349% increase in re-initials.

Free read for all basic members

Between 12:00 and 0:00 (local time) on 26th January, all basic members we’re able to read all their messages for free. This increased the number of free first messages being sent by 218% and we saw an 82% increase in peak basic members online.

End of January offer

At the end of January, between 28th and 31st, we sent out our final January campaign highlighting that it was the last chance to upgrade (we even used the catchphrase “you’re one in a chameleon”)! This contributed to a 42% increase in upgrades during these dates and a 107% increase in re-initials.

February is the month of love so we expect to see more members active across the platform which is why it’s essential we grab their attention and encourage them to upgrade! We’ll share the results with you next month.
