August comms round up

With summer holidays and a bank holiday falling in August, we expected to see a really positive increase in upgrades and engagement this month.. which we did!

Free read for all basic members

On 7th August, all basic members in all networks and countries had the chance to read their messages for free between 18:00 and 00:00 local time. This increased the number of peak members online by 144%.

Bolt-on prompts

A bolt-on reminder encourages users to take out the extra paid features on site. On the 9th August, we resent the reminder that went out in July to all full members in all networks and countries which spiked bolt-on sales by 116% and a 50% increase the following week.

Mid month discount offer

Our August mid month offer ran between the 9th and 11th of August (midweek) across all networks and territories. We saw a 23% increase in upgrades during this period and a 71% increase in re-initials.

Q&A prompt

On 23rd August, we reminded members to fill out the Q&A section on their profile to increase their chances of finding a date. This went out to all members in all networks and increased answer submission by 50%.

End of month discount offer

As we had a bank holiday at the end of the month, our end of month offer lasted for an extra day. This fell between 25th and 28th of August. We offered members 40% off their membership if they upgraded their accounts during this period which contributed to a 35% increase in upgrades and 87% re-initials.

Flash one day sale

On the last day of the month, we offered a flash sale to all basic members that comprised of a 40% discount for 1 day only, this added an urgency to upgrade as soon as possible. We saw a 42% increase in upgrades and a 111% increase in re-initials. As well as an email campaign, we also trialled a new way of promoting the offer on site which resulted in a 150% increase in conversion rate compared to Intercom.
