WLD Partners feature in The Guardian Newspaper

Monday, June 15th, 2009

Online dating continues to reach new levels of awareness. One of the top UK newspapers, The Guardian has featured some of WhiteLabelDating.com’s partners in a recent article, “Finding love in later life.” The article talks about the over 50’s market and how online dating is becoming increasingly popular with the older generation. Discussing divorce rates and increasing life expectancy, the article describes how the older generation don’t want to be alone in their later years, they want to start dating and having fun with others. Going out for dinner and arranging holidays is not just for the young kids!

The articles states that “30% of men over 65 and a whopping 60% of women don’t live as part of a couple.” So this just shows that marketing to an older demographic will definitely pay off! Within the article it lists four over 50 dating sites, three of which are WhiteLabelDating.com partners! The Senior Dating Agency and Senior Dating Group are discussed as being great over 50’s sites to join for free. The article also mentions Singlesover60.co.uk and describes how the site has successfully targeted a slightly higher age bracket.

New Search Engine, ‘Bing’ Proves the Quality Standards of Partner Sites

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

Microsoft have just launched a brand new search engine which has been designed to give more to its customers then the regular search engines out there and promises to give Google a run for their money. ‘Bing’ organizes search results and provides refinement tools so that its consumers are not given an information overload. In other words it lists the best and most informative results to help their consumers make a quick and informed decision.

According to Microsoft:

“The current state of Internet search leaves much to be desired. According to a Microsoft-commissioned survey by Harris Interactive Inc., half of attempted search queries fail to meet consumer needs, and nearly three-quarters of people consider search results too disorganized. Armed with this knowledge, we set out to create a new type of search experience with improvements in three key areas:

  • Delivering great search results and one-click access to relevant information
  • Creating a more organized search experience
  • Simplifying tasks and providing tools that enable insight about key decisions.”

Microsoft quote, “66% of consumers are more focused on using the Internet to get things done, rather than to simply find information. Therefore, with Bing we created much more than an Internet search engine. Instead, we created what is essentially an Internet decision engine that will help you navigate through the rampant excess of information and find the shortest distance to an informed decision.”

So we are really excited at WhiteLabelDating.com that some our our partners have taken full advantage of the new launch and are listed really highly on the organic listings on Bing. It shows that their sites are highly informative and relevant to the visitors search option, also and more importantly it shows that their sites have ample insight into helping potential customers make that final decision to upgrade to a full paying member.

Different partners sites are listed in three dating related search options:

Online Dating lists online.slowdating.com and datemetoday.co.uk.
Adult Dating lists adultdatinggroup.co.uk, adultdating.co.uk, brilliantadultdating.com
Over 50 Dating lists over50dating.co.uk, single50s.co.uk, over50datinggroup.co.uk, datingover50s.co.uk, datingover50s.com

So well done to those that have got on board with Bing, and we hope to see many more of our successful partners joining them very soon!

More Content = More Cash. Issue 2

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

Welcome to the second installment of More Content = More Cash. We had some great feedback from you on issue one which focused on four quick tips to kick-starting your SEO campaign. Really hope that you found the comments and links helpful, and fingers crossed it wet your appetite for this week’s issue. This week we look into the tools you will need to produce content and talk about publishing frequency, building link popularity and using current affairs as a fuel for the viral fire. Remember we love getting your comments and feedback on the blog, so please keep them coming!
For now, tuck into the full packed content below and well…. just enjoy!

Issue 2: The Four Corner Stones of Blog Publication

Content Tools
There is an out-and-out winner when it comes to blog production and that title belongs to WordPress. Reason? Simply because it’s a widely accepted and supported platform with tremendous SEO benefit and plug-in flexibility. Further benefits include a vast range of templates and themes many of which are free and its ability to syndicate (broadcast) your content to many news recipients. Setting up WordPress is simple if you’re quite technical by nature but somewhat challenging if you’re not so, but many hosting companies offer a package with the latest WordPress already installed. Two examples include JustHost and UK2.

Places to get templates & themes? To name a few: WordPress.org, wp4themes (dating) & NattyWP.com (adult dating)

Setting up and configuring WordPress is outside the scope of this post but all this information can be found on the WordPress website. There is one more task I will add and that is to expand the default list of recipients your content is broadcast to. Within your WordPress admin; under ‘Settings > Writing’ you should see a text area entitled ‘Update Services’. This lists all the services your blog is broadcast to when you hit publish. Below is an extensive list you can use to expand on the default provided:

Topical Blog Writing

‘Blog’ is a coined phrase from the term ‘web log’, so basically a diary written online. They started as more of a personal means to write about individual travels or any other goings-on that require a frequency of updates. This gives you an immediate clue to what you are to write about and that is something that requires frequent updates. I’ve left the next section to discuss frequency so lets focus on topical blog writing.

Topical blog writing is about matching current affairs and hot topics to the nature of your blog or post. Why? Simply because people will be using social media sites and search engines to keep themselves informed of hot topics and trends. If you can successfully ride this trend wave then you have created a hook into this traffic and have more of a chance to use the powerful ’social media machine’ to build links back to your post/article thus increasing the underlying SEO with keyworded back-links. At this point it’s important to reiterate the use of keywords within the post links. Since the blog post title tends to be the main back-link, make time to think about strategically adding keywords to it.

Lets put this into an example; everyone knows about Peter Andre & Jordan splitting up and it was a hot topic at the time. We could reactively write a post titled ‘Jordan seeks dating after splitting with boyfriend Peter Andre’. I’ve managed to capture the hot topic of interest and insert the dating keyword.

Stuck for ideas on titles? A great but simple tip is to check the big social news aggregate sites: digg.com, techorati, delicious.com and look at the headlines of the most popular posts/links as these seem to be working well. No special tricks here, just do what is doing well!

A few points to remember:

  • Ride the wave of hot topics and current trends
  • Use keywords in post titles and text to build SEO
  • Social media targets peoples view points and personalities so adding topics for argument is always a great idea to stimulate the popularity

Publishing Frequency
Frequency of posting not only helps attract repeat visitors but also triggers a synchronicity with search indexing. That means the search engines effectively ‘learn’ when you publish new content and sync their bots to come along more frequently to grab it. An obvious benefit to SEO is the long tail of content you produce over time. The back-links established from all this content really help build a concrete SEO foundation. This is why it’s important to get the keyword research right upfront as SEO is for the long haul. A final point about frequency is to maintain a focus or topic around your continued blog posting. A good example would be the very one you are reading, you expect to see something next time :)

Using Social Media for Link Building
Arguably we have covered this above as social media is based on UGC (User Generated Content), all we need to do is fuel the already mentioned ’social media machine’ and it takes care of itself! Using social media is therefore quite simple as it ‘uses your content’ in the way its users see fit. A bit of a tongue twister but the efforts you put in to producing the ’sticky’ type of content as described above then you’ll be sure to notice the effect. One thing I would suggest is making it easy for users when reading your blogs or posts to be able to submit it to the big social media sites. AddThis has everything you need to plug-in to your WordPress installation or code to paste in adhoc to achieve this.

A lot to digest this week! Next week we’ll look at the power of multimedia, how to create it and how to use it effectively….look forward to seeing you there!

Dating Becoming More Acceptable Amongst the Masses

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

Launching sites in multiple countries is becoming the fashionable thing to do in the dating world. Launching in new territories can be very profitable, especially in countries in which the industry is still relatively young. It seems many of our partners have caught onto this money making idea and their sites are now in full bloom across the world’s net!

Two great examples of new sites that launched in the past week are WotDates.com and MyFirstWebDate.com who have launched internationally, making the most of the untapped potential. WotDates.com and MyFirstWebDate.com have recently launched sites in the USA, Canada, UK, Australia, South Africa and Ireland.

WotDates.com is a prime example of a partner really using their initiative. Not only have they launched in multiple countries and have a PPC campaign in place, they’re also maximising their marketing potential with the use of social media. This includes their very own Twitter account, Facebook fan page and blog. This is a great way of engaging with their members and also building relationships with potential members for the future in a format and media source that they’re comfortable with.

Both sites have great potential and I am sure they will gain great traffic and conversion rates, given that they’re keeping ahead of the game. We wish them the best of luck and can’t wait to see how they perform.

Member Trends Are Changing

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

A recent study carried out by Tim Taylor, CEO of NaughtyCanoodle.com has shown that more women are turning to casual dating sites than ever before. The reasons behind this? Simple… more messages being sent by males on the sites. Women seem to be getting fed up with guys having various different motives, whereas with an adult and casual site women find men are much more honest about what they are looking for. The study which involved a sample of female members from NaughtyCanoodle.com reveals that women are increasing turning towards the more adult site, the main reasons for this, quoted by Tim Taylor:-

“The men that women are finding on these sites are more honest, more in touch with themselves, and clearer about what they are looking for in a relationship. They are refreshingly honest, only looking for a casual relationship – not someone to share the rest of their life with.”

As a result to this study, member communication is increasing day by day, more e-mails are being sent, online chat is increasing and there are first dates going on everywhere! Which is a great result for sites such as NaughtyCanoodle.com

The findings of the study are great news for all the guys out there on the adult and causal networks as this means that there are more evenly based matched memberships on the sites. No string casual fun seems to be what women are looking for at the moment, and why not go directly to an casual site for it, as both parties are clear as to what they are looking for. No messing around and pure honestly.

WhiteLabelDating.com Welcomes Footloose to Portfolio

Friday, June 13th, 2008

We are very pleased to announce the launch of FootlooseDating.co.uk on the WLD platform.

The site is specifically targeted at over 35’s dating, and has been set up by two sisters, Eleanor Selley and Natalie Crosland. The pair joined the WLD team along with many of our existing partners at an evening dinner event we held on the first night of Internet World this year.

Inspired by many other successful partners that joined us on the night, the sisters have now launched their own site and we are delighted to welcome Footloose.co.uk to our portfolio.
