The Improvements Just Keep on Coming

As reported in the Find Out What’s New On Your Platform email, the introduction of the Icebreaker feature (the free one off introductory email available to all members) was so successful it increased conversion rates by 26% . To encourage more activity on your sites and drive your conversion rates even higher, we have now extended the range of ages and locations members can send Icebreakers to, meaning members can contact people of any age and up to 400 miles away! Now thats a lot of members!

We also wanted to let you know that we have just received our first success story from a couple who met via an Icebreaker – a woman from Cornwall and a man from Birmingham. They are madly in love and engaged to be married so this feature really is working for our members, as well as you!

We have recently improved our JavaScript member feed so you have maximum control over which members appear in your splash page member feeds.

The recent improvement means the feed can pull in members from more than one region - giving your users a more localised and targeted experience.

Well the weather over this past week has certainly found the WLD office in high spirits. Our members have also been enjoying the sunshine and we have had some really nice positive diary entries this week :-)

We are always being asked…What are credits? And how can they be used? So this week we have decided to go through in detail all the possibilities for members once credits have been purchased.

Credits are a type of online currency used to purchase a number of items to improve your dating experience. If you would like to purchase credits please click on “My Account” then “Credits” you will then be presented with a link that says “To Purchase Credits Click Here” you will need to click on the word “Here” to be taken through to the payments page.

In recent months a lot of our partners have asked us where we recommend advertising to acquire customers, particularly for the non-adult networks. The truth is that there’s more options than ever and the most successful partners use as many sources as possible to get the broadest range of customers.

Below are a few sources to get you started:

PlentyOfFish.com

Whilst many partners advertise on Plentyoffish.com indirectly through Google Adwords content network, you can cut out the middleman and advertise directly via PlentyofFish.com - your ads can be live in just 5 minutes and you can target by age, gender, location and income. Learn more at www.plentyoffish.com/advertising.aspx.

Smooch.com
This is the largest UK-based free dating site which attracts many of their members through search engine optimisation. You can benefit from this traffic through targeted advertising. You may wish to target a specific demographic (eg. men over 50) for your site. They’ve offered WLD partners a special rate of just 50pence CPM - remember to quote WLD. MSN / Bing
A great alternative to Google is to try Bing, Microsoft’s new search engine. Generally partners report lower acquisition costs on Bing and their traffic is increasing due to a national TV advertising campaign. Learn more about advertising on Bing via https://adcenter.microsoft.com/

Facebook
If you’ve not tried it yet, you will love what Facebook can offer you - choose to pay on a CPC or CPM basis and target only the demographics you want to get the results you need. There is a HUGE VOLUME of basic members available here, learn more at www.facebook.com/advertising/.

Affiliates
If you want someone else to do the legwork, consider an affiliate programme for your site - you’ll need to give away some revenue to the affiliate, but this is often comparable with what you would pay Google on a CPA basis anyway (either for a basic or full member). Customer Support Team Update w/c 17th May

So another week at Global Personals has gone by, and as we mentioned last week we have made some changes to the adult network meaning that we have had a lot of moderations to clear with members updating their profiles. Lucky for us we have a very hard working moderation team so no members were left waiting around for their new and improved profiles to be approved. In fact our new average approval time has now gone down to just 2 hours. With moderations coming in thick and fast we have been going through the interview process for a new pair of hands over the past couple of weeks, we look forward to introducing you to our new addition shortly and I’m sure we will be updating you soon with our new and improved moderation time :-)

Member query of the week

We haven’t really had one query stand out from the rest this week, but as the topic has steered towards moderations we will be covering this with you today.

We have members asking on a daily basis how long it will take for their photos, diary entries etc to be approved…I’m sure you will agree from the figures below that our approval times are fast, leaving our members happy and ready to move on to the fun stage of finding someone.

Average approval times over the last 30 days:

Photos: 2 hours
Ice Breakers: 1.32 hours
Profiles: 2 hours
Diary entries: 2.51 hours
Private Messages 2 hours
Videos: 2.05 hours

With our approval times getting better all the time, our members are more inclined to update their profiles on a regular basis, this means more attention directed at their profiles meaning that our members are enjoying their time on the site more.

Cougars Get Some Late Night Love

Thanks to the media attention sites like ToyBoy.com have been getting recently it’s not surprising that the subject of cougars has been brought to light within the media once again. Not only are magazines and newspapers lapping it up, now the radio has started to get involved.

The very popular Graham Torrington show, late night love did a special feature on cougars - older women, younger men which was live on BBC radio on Sunday 9th May at 10.00pm. On the show Graham spoke to an older women of 35 about her experiences with younger men, asking her how she came about dating younger men, what it is about them she likes and what her family and friends think of her antics. He also spoke to a younger gentleman of 23 about his dating and relationship experiences with older women. He went onto say the oldest age gap he had ever had was 20 years.

Having a whole radio show dedicated to discussing cougars and toyboys just shows how much of an impact this whole phenomenon has had on the media. It proves that once something gets picked up by one media source the rest are very close to follow. You can still listen to the radio show on the BBC i Player. Customer Support Team Update w/c 10th May

Last week was a busy one for all at Global Personals. We had our Company Presentation with the directors updating us on last months achievements, as well as giving us a sneak preview of things to come in the next few months. The presentation was followed by a champagne reception here at the Global Personals office (with strawberries and truffles - yum!) and then off to a cocktail bar for a night of fun, frolics and dancing!
