Find Out What’s New On Your Platform

On Wednesday, we promised that we’d be providing you with a roundup over the week of all of the developments that we’ve been rolling out across the platforms over the past month.

HELPING PEOPLE CONNECT

InlineWe know that dating sites can tend to attract “lurkers” -  those people who join but don’t pluck up the courage to make contact with anybody or even upgrade to full membership.

To address this, we were very excited to implement our new Icebreaker tool. The tool allows members to send a “one off” introductory email to a group of individuals between their chosen age ranges and location, free of charge. This immediately saw a huge improvement in conversions, with the overall rate going up by 26% over the last month alone. This one off free communication allows members to make contact with other members, establishing connections which they’re then more likely to upgrade to be able to maintain.

Combined with the ability for members to filter their communication settings, this means that they’re able to hear from members that only match their criteria - yet further increasing satisfaction and helping them find suitable matches.

Continued Improvements To Your Platform

As many of you will be aware having attended the Partner Conference in October, we promised great things. As the quarter draws to a close, it gives us great pleasure to have delivered so many great improvements to the platforms and to have witnessed the positive effect that these have had on conversion rates.

Performance has improved drastically with the 7 day conversion rate over the platforms up by 22% in the last month alone and re-initials up by 139%, we wanted to recap on the developments and progress that has enabled this to happen.

Over the coming week, we’ll be summarising the great steps forwards that we’ve made together and sharing learnings that we’ve made along the way. So, let us begin…

TAILORING EXPERIENCES

We recognise the importance of giving members the best possible experience on your sites to increase conversion from basic to full members and once full, to extend the length of their lifetime on the site.

One of the ways that we tackled this issues was with the introduction of a recommended members facility. Rather than depending purely on the members’ set search criteria, the intelligent recommendation engine highlights members similar to those that they’ve been looking at, winking and messaging. This goes a long way in tailoring the experience for each individual on the site. In the last 4 weeks, we have seen terminations across the platforms decrease by 9.9% as a result.

EQUIPPING YOUR SUCCESS

Many of our partners are now accustomed to the Partner Portal which has become a critical tool for monitoring and improving the performance of their sites through the reporting that this offers. We would like to inform you that from this evening, the old admin system will be disabled and you’ll automatically be re-directed to thePortal. You will be able to access the Portal using your existing log in details.

Toyboy.com Grabs the Attention of the Media

The hard work of Toyboy.com has helped the brand take the attention of the media yet again. The site has managed to be featured in not one, but two UK newspapers, The Sun and The DailyMail.

The site carried out some research on 1,000 women aged between 18 and 65 and found that having a toyboy can make a woman feel an average of four years younger than they actually are. Both newspapers picked up on the research and the site was quoted in each article, giving Toyboy.com some great coverage!

The site is a perfect example when it comes to proving that driving your marketing, believing in and selling your brand can lead to brilliant results. Check out the online articles at The Sun and The MailOnline.

Customer Support Team Update w/c 26th April

Although the weekend wasn’t quite as sunny as we were expecting at least summer is definitely on the way! We got taken for a lovely dinner last Thursday compliments of Ross Williams and our Directors, and it was a great chance for Customer Care, Moderations and HR and Finance to socialise over good food and a few cocktails - and we all had a great time! You may have received our recent email newsletter regarding St Georges Day and the benefits of sending gifts. We had limited edition themed gifts for the day and let our members know the amazing statistic that a whopping 76% of members are more likely to respond when sent a gift as well as a message! This of course led members to ask us how they could purchase gifts and how to send them!

Although we have already blogged about this query it never hurts to have a little recap!

To send a gift simply click on the link on the member’s profile that states ‘Send this member a gift’ and choose from our limited edition gifts such as a Knight, a dragon or an English flag!

Once you’ve chosen your gift, please simply pay using the credits from your profile, then go ahead and send your gift! Credits may also be used to receive Love Alerts on your mobile, whenever you are contacted by another member - we can send you a text and let you know!

It’s very easy to purchase credits, simply click on My Account (located at the top of your home page), and then please click on the Credits tab on the left hand side of the page. You can then select the amount of credits that you wish to buy, and pay for these using your registered card details.

Not only did we introduce the new Icebreaker feature, but also the ability for members to filter their contact preferences. Whilst allowing all members to select who they wanted to hear from, this hugely improved the experience for female members.

Women are renowned for being inundated on dating sites (especially on adult sites) and so the ability for them to select the criteria of who they’d like to hear from makes the whole process a lot more manageable for them and makes the likelihood of them coming across somebody they’d like to engage with much higher.

F-buddy gets some insight into celebrity packages

The owner of f-buddy.co.uk really got his thinking hat on this week when he got together with his PR agency and cajcrried out some research into who women perceive to have the biggest “manhood” in show business.

The survey of 4,000 ladies was conducted by the site f-buddy.co.uk, and the results landed the site a place on the front page of the Daily Star newspaper, along with a whole page inside spread and an online piece! Just in case you were interested, Jeremy Clarkson come in top followed closely by Gordon Ramsey and Daniel Craig and poor little Alan Carr was right down the bottom!

Managing to get a feature on the front page of such a recognisable newspaper is great PR coverage for the site and it just shows what a bit of fun and imagination can do! Check out the article online for yourself and see if you agree with the results.

An Intimate Insight

Customer Support Team Update w/c 12th April

We cannot express how happy the Customer Care team are to finally see the sun come out! We have had some lovely few days and it’s put everyone into the summer mood, which has also put an extra spring into our work! Although we have been busy this year, we are all really pulling together and pushing to give the best customer care we can. We have a new member of the team to introduce! Edit who started on support last week, is already proving herself to be a keen, enthusiastic hard worker, so we are sure she will be a great asset to the team and we are happy to have her! Member Query of the Week

We have been noticing members are asking about the differences between Full and Basic membership, which is a great opportunity to allow us explain to our members the benefits of signing up with us.

As a basic member, the site is free to join, create a profile, add a picture, read diary entries, conduct searches and send winks - not to mention members are now able to send an icebreaker message. These are great ways for members to get started with their profiles, and allows them to gain an insight into how much interest their profile is attracting. We allow basic members access to these facilities on the site for an unlimited time so that they can assess the suitability of the service, and see whether it’s right for them!

As a full member, members are able to send and receive messages and upload up to 10 photos. They can also add diary entries and video entries to inform members of their recent activity. On our general sites members also have access to the ‘Instant Chat’ facility which allows you to chat to members currently online, rather than sending messages. This can help create a relationship much quicker!

Other add-ons we provide to full members membership include ‘Credits’. This will allow members to send gifts to members, a handy way of showing interest! Members on our general sites will also be able to use facilities in the lifestyle section, such as horoscopes and personality profiles!

I just thought I would take this opportunity to thank you. I haven’t found anyone special yet but I just love the way you run your site.

I enrolled with you in December and was a full member for a month. When my membership expired in mid Jan I decided to enrol with Match.com instead and after two months on there with no responses I noticed messages coming into my in box on your site. Most of these have been from the ice breaker but some have been from “enquirers”.

Anyhow, curiosity got the better of me and I reinstated my membership using the 241 that came with the icebreaker - sent my message and was totally overwhelmed with over 100 messages and loads of winks. Its made dating fun again instead of me thinking I was not attracted to the opposite sex, after the disappointment from Match.

Suffice to say if things don’t “happen” before my membership expires mid May I will seriously consider taking a longer contract with your site. I love the quirky little windows you have like the one you have today, and, of course, the icebreaker (the responses gave my spirits a major boost).

The most recent research that we undertook showed that the market here is still in it’s infancy, offering great potential for brands entering the market at present.

Having identified the opportunity presented within the South African market, we undertook a review of the user experience on the platform (including the actual platform and comms that they receive) to ensure that these members were receiving the best possible service.

The Changes

Following the review, we have identified a number of improvements that we plan to make to maximise the satisfaction of members on the platform. The first of these changes we are pleased to announce have now been completed:-

  • Updated platform with amended tone of voice, grammar and imagery to reflect the target market
  • Amended communications plan with content re-written by locals to ensure authenticity
  • Tailored seasonal promotional communications plan to reflect South African national and cultural holidays

These are the first of many improvements that are being rolled out across the platform and we look forward to providing further updates over the coming months.
