Monday, January 25th, 2010

Introduction

Hello again from everyone in support :) . We are very happy to report that Pat has done very well in her first week, she is picking up the support work quickly and we are sure that she will be a great addition to the team! We are also excited this week because we have all been given the opportunity to further our customer service skills by attending a Customer Service course run by Hamilton Mercer! We will all be taking part in the one day course over a period of two days, and we believe it will be an excellent way to brush up on our existing skills, and learn new ways to help our members and improve their experience with us. You can be sure that we will let you know how this went next week!

Member Query of the Week

January can be a hard time for everyone, with the Christmas period over and the excitement gone, our wallets and purses feel quite a bit lighter than they were before December! This is why we have run a special offer code for the January period. JANSALE is a brilliant way to offer our members a discounted membership at an amazing 50% off! With this offer we hope to not only ease the January blues away for our members, but to give them the added bonus of spending less on a one months membership offer!

To take advantage of this offer, members simply needed to access the online payments page - choose the one months subscription price band and enter JANSALE into our offer code box. On clicking “Apply Code” - the membership price is automatically dropped to half price.

We have been working hard to improve our customers journey with us, and what a great way to start the New Year!

Toyboy Anyone??

Monday, January 25th, 2010

Ever thought of having a toyboy? Having a bit of fun with a younger man? Well one of our partners who owns YesMrsRobinson.com can makes those ideas happen.

mrsrobingson

YesMrsRobinson.com is a site for “the sexy older women and beautiful young men”, and helps out women who may have a slight fetish for the younger man!

The site recently carried out a online survey of 2,000 women over the age of 40 and found out that 40% of them would like to experiment with a toyboy, which is excellent news for the site. The survey was picked up by a variety of different newspapers and magazine, including The Daily Mail, the Sun and the Metro. It also received some great coverage over the net. They all tended to pick up the story and relate it to celebrity couples who tend to have that slightly bigger age difference!

Using an online survey of your members if a great way to get noticed, giving people numbers and stats that they can relate to and use for an article or press release is a perfect way for getting your site name out there and getting realised as an online brand. Having your site name so widely publicised will also help with those all important conversion rates.

To Smile or Not to Smile…??

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

What do you do when posing for your online dating profile? Smile sweetly, put on your flirting eyes, take your shirt off, flash a bit of cleavage?? There are so many options, how do you know what will get you the best results??

Well OKCupid.com have done a little survey to help you on what kind of pics get the best results. The site did a survey on 7,000 pictures posted to the site and found some very interesting results. From the results found we have put together a little tip list for you to have a look at for when you are deciding on your next profile picture.

So lets start with you boys…

Tip 1.

The male “ab shot” which is supposedly looked down on in the Internet world actually works wonders! It does however help if you have the abs to show off, so boys if you have it flaunt it!

Tip 2.

Another thing to take into account is what you have on. If you decide not to flaunt your bare chest, the results showed that men who dress more casual come out higher than those who made more of an effort. So I think the moral is boys, lose the shirt or lose the tie!

Tip 3.

Right then, onto that all important face shoot. According to the survey the best look for guys is to not smile and to look away from the camera. That sounds easy enough hey?

Tip 4.

A pet, posing with one is a huge plus for a guys profile. It’s apparently nearly as good as showing off those abs! So whether it’s your little pooch you pose with or the neighbours cat get a cute fluffy animal involved, they can work wonders for you!

Tip 5.

One final tip to add is to try and do something interesting in your pic. Us girls are suckers for a musician, a pic of a guy playing a guitar for example can make a girl become interested in you without even reading your profile. Always a good start!

So ladies, time for your pointers…

Tip 1.

Lets start with cleavage, the questions is.. to show or not to show?? The results from the survey show the cleavage shot is very successful! So get them out girls.

Tip 2.

The head shot, it’s all about eye contact and flirting! Smiling sweetly does work but is not quite as effective as flirting with the camera.

Tip 3.

Women get great results from “the universally maligned MySpace Shot” the hold your phone above your head and click look. So girls, if you’re looking to get some extra messages the simple “MySpace Shot” is “the single most effective photo type for women”. Get involved girls!

Tip 4.

Finally bringing pets back into the mix, unlike guys girls should stay far away from posing with our furry friends as it can rapidly drop your repossess, it’s even worse then posing with a drink. Ladies, you have been told.

Hopefully these results have given you a bit of help and guidance on what to do for your profile picture. So go get snapping!

‘12 good things to come out of a bad date’

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

While having a flick through Glamour magazine I came across their single-ish daily dating blog, a great read if you fancy a giggle. I came across an article, ‘12 good things to come out of a bad date.’ The points Erin Meanly make are really worth sharing and will help those who may be feeling slightly disheartened by a bad date they may have recently had. We all know that not every date you go on will end up ending perfectly, but there are plenty of positive points that come hand in hand with the dating game;

1. You learn what not to do

Point number 1 is very valid! I am sure we have all experienced those awful first date moments! One on Erin’s list that would definitely put me off a first date was when a guy apparently passed some very silent but very violent wind! Huge turn off! Other first date no no’s include, talking about your x and how they use to do things! Drinking that one too many cocktails and telling your date you love them, not such a great idea on a first date!

2. You get dating practice

They do always say practice makes perfect and a dater can always improve on their game! By the end of your dating experience you will be a pro! You could even set up your own dating advice blog to help out those other first time daters in need.

3. You get a story to tell

I have to admit, the stories you get from dating can sometimes be one of the best aspects to the game! Whether it’s a dating disaster about that guy who just didn’t seem to stop crying ALL night or a story of an amazing date that completely swept you off your feet! You will be at the top of the list for your mates dinner parties from now on!

4. You could get a free meal

OK, so this maybe more of one for the girls, but sometimes you may even get a free dinner, always a plus but remember to always offer girls!

5. You may learn something

It’s always great to meet new people, everyone has interesting things to share and you can always learn from others! You’ll come out of your date feeling more knowledgeable than ever!

6. You can network

Ahhhh the wonderful world of networking, your date may not be your prince charming but they may be able to help you out in more departments than you first thought! After all it’s who you know, not what you know!

7. You get to feel pretty / manly

It’s always nice to dress up and feel pretty and even better if you get complimented on it! It works for guys to, you get to do the manly thing of looking after a women for the night, and giving her those lovely compliments, that’s fun for men …right?? Plus you get to get some compliments yourself! Spending that extra 5 minutes doing your hair will pay off.

8. You get out of the house

We all know that after a day at the office you can get into a very comfy routine of getting home, popping on your slippers and chilling out to a movie, not that there is anything wrong with that, but dating can help pull you out of doing it every night, you’ll start being a little socialite before you know it!

9. You get to experience a new venue

Getting to experience new places is a huge plus to the fun dating game. You may even find a new favourite place courtesy of your date.

10. You become more confident

A huge bonus to dating! The more dates you go on the more confident you’ll become, and there’s nothing sexier than a bit of confidence!

11. You might get a hug

Hugs, very underrated! A hug is always needed, I don’t think people give out enough, in fact I think having a hug a day can make a whole lot of difference! So if you don’t get anything out of your date just make sure you get a little squeeze!

12. You appreciate your next partner so much more

Once you find the right person you will appreciate them a hell of a lot more and your relationship will end up being the best yet! :)

So even if you do have a bad date remember all the good things you got out of it, sit back and smile and think of all the fun times you have ahead!

WhiteLabelDating.com Partner up With IntroAnalytics to Bring you Smarter Matchmaking

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

We are very excited to announce our recent partnership with IntroAnalytics. The recent technology partnership means great new matchmaking facilities for all members.

So what does it actually all mean? Well for a start it will transform the online dating experience, dating will become faster and more effective for the user, making the experience one they remember, enjoy and will definitely go back for!

The basic idea around the new recommended members tool is that it does the hard work for you. Rather than replying on the users preferences and questionnaires it recommends other members based on implicit behaviour as they move around the site. It bases its recommendations on what profiles they visited, who they may have winked at and what other members they added to their favourites. The more the members use the site the better the matches become, the clever computer technology starts to learn peoples ‘type’ and then it suggests others that fit that criteria. It means your members will spend less time searching, they will get better matches and it will widen their net use by recommending members that may be outside their area, therefore increasing their changes of finding their perfect partner. Which means increased retention rates for you, always good news!

This new IntroAnalytics recommendation technology is a first in the online dating industry and is available on all of your sites now, so enjoy :)

Member Query of the Week
This week we are going to discuss a matter that comes into support as a query every so often - Timeout. A member will usually ask us why they have lost a message they have been composing, or why they are being asked to log in when they have previously logged in earlier that day.

Timeout is a security feature on the site. When a member has become inactive for 30 consecutive minutes, the site will automatically log them out of the site and ask the member to re-enter their details to continue with their lapsed session. Inactivity is classed as a member who hasn’t moved from one page to another within 30minutes, which triggers the Timeout facility.

We do assure and stress to our members that this aids them in a situation where they may have left a public or private computer unoccupied, as this would prevent non-members from accessing their account and viewing private messages or changing personal details.

Unfortunately on some occasions, this may result in a member losing a message they had been composing - however to combat this we suggest to members to compose their message in a Word Document or a WordNotePad, as this would allow the member to spend as long as they wish on the message with no risk of the message being lost! They would then be able to simply copy and paste the message into our message facility.

Good Feedback

We are pleased to say that the good feedback is still coming in, we have chosen the two below to share with you this week:

The first is from Brain from www.scarletdating.co.uk:

Brain: Hi would like to remove my profile for the time being . thanks to scarlet dating have met a fantastic woman .thank u and happy new year

The second support message we would like to share with you is from Janet fromĀ www.maturematch.co.uk:

Janet: Thank you. I have found someone and I’m very impressed with how the website works; also that you make a priority of the safety and security of members.

Very best wishes

Janet

Happily Ever After :)

Friday, January 15th, 2010

We received a lovely message from a very loved up member and wanted to share the love with you! It really makes everything worthwhile when you hear stories like this, especially when you hear the great news they have to share…..

” Hi Everyone

I thought I would just share my good fortune with you and thank you for your help.

I joined your site back last year Feb to be exact, at the same time a lovely girl from Scotland joined. (Im from Wales)
Anyway, we got talking after I sent a wink to Gayle. We decide to meet up after communicating for a few weeks via phone, Skype, Txt, emails we would have communicated by morse code if that was the only way. So I travelled 450 miles to meet Gayle face to face for the first time, excited, scared, nervous are only a few words I could describe this moment but I knew deep down it just felt so right (like nothing before).
We got on even better in real life than we actually did on the phone or texting (and we would come home from work and talk till the early hours of the morning each night and I mean each night.) People could never believe how much we talked, they would always say how long? What do you talk about? lol.

To cut a long story short, after a lot and I mean a lot of flying back and forth. In August I moved to Scotland to be with Gayle. The company I worked for allowed me to work from home, which is great and now we have had some good news; that we are expecting our FIRST CHILD!!! We just had our 12 week scan and everything seems to be OK. So I thought I would just drop you line and say thank you because next month will be our 1st anniversary on the 15th and we both know if it wasnt for this site we would never have met and to think it all started with a wink.

So a BIG THANK YOU FROM GAYLE AND ME AND OUR BABY BUMP!! “

We just wanted to say a huge congratulations and look forward to welcoming the little bump into the big wide world! We are very happy one of our sites has been able to create such happiness :)

What Will Dating be Like in 2020…

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Ever wondered what life will be like in 2020, what it may have in store for you 10 years down the line? Scary thought I know! The past decade has brought us some wonderful things that we wouldn’t dream about living without now! ipods stay attached to our ears most of the time and where would we be without the wonderful world of social networking delivering us the ever growing Twitter and facebook communities! Even YouTube was founded in the noughties! Stylist magazine has had a little look into the future, and with the help of a team of futurologists has come up with some answers.

Along with a with pill that severally curtails your appetite, mine mug size pets and invisible computer commended makeup they also have some answerer’s to what dating will become like in the next decade. Ian Pearson, who has been a full time futurologist since 1991 shared his left field views on what the future holds for dating. Ian explains that there will be serious changes in the way people meet and hook up. He discusses the real world environment merging with virtual computer - generated reality. The theory is that you will wear glasses that basically match-make for you, Pearson explains, “as you walk around town you will wear glasses that generate computer images in front of you. You’ll be able to change what the streets look like, what the buildings look like. A touch of a button will reveal the restaurants, hotels and bars into a nearby area of 3D vision.”

How the glasses work within dating is quite simple, if you are single you are alerted of any single men / women that may walk by, before you even know each other’s name your computer generated glasses would have already broadcasted their facebook information and the computer chips will decide if you are compatible or not. If so it will work out when you are both free and as easy as that, you have a first date set up! How they work to those already attached, again simple, all men or women will simple just appear as objects that you need to avoid bumping into, I guess that cut downs the prospect of cheating, I suppose you wouldn’t be that attracted to a “avoidable object”.

Just walking down the street may be much more exciting in 2020! You might just pop out to the local supermarket to grab your camu camu (a superfood of the next decade apparently) and come back with 3 dates set up for the weekend. All you have to do is pop the glasses on! Let’s just hope they come in an array of different colours so you can colour code them with your outfits!

The article definitely makes some interesting reading. Check it out yourself online at Issue.stylist.co.uk and see what’s in store for you in 2020!

Saturday Night TV is Once Again Complete with Hilarious Dating Show

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

We all used to love our Saturday nights in with Celia Black and the classic Blind Date game show, well now your Saturday night can be once again fulfilled with a brand new dating show that has come to the box.

‘Take me out’ , a new dating show on ITV 1, which takes a prime viewing spot of 7.30pm on a Saturday night.

The new show hosted by Paddy McGuiness is designed to put the powers of female intuition to the ultimate test! The basic idea of the show involves thirty ladies hoping to find their perfect partner. The question is….will they like what they see?

take-me-out

Each girl has a podium with a light on, and as the sexy bachelor boys are lowered onto the stage if the girls don’t like what they see they canĀ  press their buzzer and their light will go off. However if they do like the look of the boys they may just end up with a saucy first date. So who will end up with the date? Could judging the guys to soon be a mistake? Check out the next episode of the show on Saturday night at 7.30pm on ITV 1, you can also watch exclusive interviews and highlights of the show at ITV.com.
