UK expected to have 15m singles by 2011

The Tonight Show on ITV put dating under the microscope last night, as the dating industry becomes bigger and more profitable than ever before.

The programme reported that it’s estimated there will be 15 MILLION singles by 2011 making the dating industry’s value over £1billion.

Three dating hopefuls each tried different methods of dating - online, personal match-making and more traditional methods, such as approaching people in bars and speed dating. Online and match-making came out head and shoulders above more traditional methods, giving people the opportunity to pre-scope their dates. However the only draw back with match making was the associated costs that can be found with some agencies.

So it looks as though the future is bright for online dating, with more and more people turning on their computers to find love.

WLD’s All Things Web Geekup

Our developers are always working hard to roll out new features on the platform which means that they’re normally heads down beavering away. We thought that it would be good for them to interact with some other humans once in a while though, which is why we thought a Geekup would be great. The collection of different people from the web industry with similar interests, interacting with our very own geeks just seemed perfect!

We’re suckers for gadgets and toys here at White Label Dating, from Xbox360, Wii, Rock Band, Guitar Hero, Table Football… the list goes on. We thought where better to host the Geekup than our games room and so our very first “All Things Web Geekup” found it’s venue. An open invitation was sent to all using the power that is Twitter and Upcoming and before you know it, we had ourselves an event.

The night was a huge success with loads of chatter (not a common occurrence with so many developers in the house), ranging from coding, marketing, startups in the current climate, finance, recruitment and Guitar Hero strategies. We had an amazing night, so much fun and made many new friends.

Feedback has been great and we’ve had requests to find out when the next will be, so we’re definitely hoping to make this a regular thing. If you’re interested in coming along, be sure to follow us on Twitter or fan us up on Facebook.

White Label Dating nominated in two categories at The National Sales Awards in London

We were over the moon to have had our two Partner Managers nominated as finalists in two separate categories at the National Sales Awards that took place on Park Lane in London last night.

Laura Cowell was a finalist in the category of “Account Manager of the Year” and Gary Taylor in the category of “Young Sales Professional of the Year”. Thousands of candidates were submitted, so we’re incredibly proud of Laura and Gary to have reached the finals. The two were joined by candidates from Barclays, EDF Energy, HSBC and Vodafone so they were in very good company.

Appointment of Mel Kirk as Online Marketing Manager to drive further growth in 2009

Over the past 6 months, we’ve experienced record growth here at WhiteLabelDating.com, with revenue having increased by 73.48% and site traffic by 23.35%. We recognise how important it is to invest in our marketing strategies in order to continue this growth and are investing in dedicated resource to take this forwards.

As an experienced social media consultant, Mel joins from Aardman Animations, where as Communities Manager she managed the companys online community and brand strategy. Before this, Mel worked as Community Manager for the web events company, Carsonified.

We were over the moon to find that one of our partners, Single With Kids is converting 68% of their basic members to full paying members!

They’ve recently received a lot of attention having been featured on GM.TV with Lorraine Kelly and a number of national radio shows. This of course drives more traffic to the site and is self perpetuating. We’re so proud to be running the platform behind the site, offering the features to encourage members to upgrade and the support of our Partner Team to assist the partners to achieve their maximum potential.
