New social media features you should know about

If you market your sites on social media channels, it’s important that you stay up to date with their latest trends, developments and updates.

Here’s a rundown of the most recent changes that popular platforms have made over the last couple of months…

Instagram’s most recent changes

Instagram recently launched a new ‘Call To Action’ (CTA) format which has moved text such as, “Find out more” or “Sign up now”, to the left-hand side, which is closer to the “Like” and “Comment” buttons. With the text being closer to these buttons, it could increase the conversion rate.

After the introduction of the new CTA design, gaming advertisers saw a 32% increase in click-to-install conversion rates and a 12% improvement in cost-per-install.

Instagram have also released a new filter that lets users hide abusive, inappropriate and negative comments. This will only apply to user comments and not actual media uploaded.

Business Twitter accounts display response hours

Businesses’ Twitter accounts can now display the hours that they are available to respond to tweets, e.g. “24/7” or “9am to 5pm”. This feature also includes a button for people to click to send a direct message.

Facebook launched similar features last year showing typical response rates for a page, for example, “responds within a day”.

While we manage all of your customer care enquiries, you may receive some messages via your social media channels. Our customer care team handle these enquiries for many partners, so please don’t hesitate to ask your Partner Manager where to forward these on to.

Targeted ads on Snapchat

Snapchat have rolled out a new targeted ad option that allows brands to target their ads based on users email addresses, people who resemble those defined groups and the type of content they view.

The three new ad options include Snap Audience Match, Lookalikes and Snapchat Lifestyle Categories will be able to pop up between people’s Stories, Live Stories or within Discover channels. However, brands will not be able to use them through geofilter campaigns.

Targeted advertising methods like this will allow you to market your site to specific niches and age demographics.
